Wii Fit is the first Nintendo Wii game specifically design to help gamers get into shape. It features over 40 different activities separated into four training categories of muscle workouts, aerobic exercises, yoga and balance, each one designed to test you in a different way. They'll help you burn fat, condition and tone muscles and increase aerobic stamina. All of this from the comfort of your own living room. Use the Wii Balance Board for daily Wii Fit tests; tests offered by the Wii Fit evaluate two key measures that everyone can track via progress charts.
Childhood obesity and the care of our elderly are both pressing social concerns in America. Wii seems to address both issues. Playing the Wii makes an impact on the user's heart rate, energy expenditure and amount of calories burned. Independent studies are producing positive results that regular Wii gaming can decrease body fat, lower resting heart rate, lower body mass index (BMI) and result in weight loss. There is a well documented study posted on the net by a man who added playing Wii sports into his daily activity regimen while leaving everything else the same. He too had positive results. In his study boxing produced the most drastic results.
As of the beginning of May 2008, Wii Fit is the only game available for the Wii Balance Board but that will definitely change in the coming months. Namco Bandai has already confirmed the release of We Ski in the US on 13th May and 2k Sports have Don King's Prizefighter scheduled for June and the list will grow. In fact, Nintendo US COO, Reggie Fils-Aime, confirmed that over 10 games were already in development. No other games have been confirmed but there are already rumours spreading of Nintendo snowboarding, EA Skate, Rayman Raving Rabbids and even future Mario titles. In view of this, Wii Balance Board games are definitely going to be a big hit in 2008.
