The Wii definitely has people talking and apparently, exercising! Wii was originally released in 2006 and by Christmas 2007 had people scattering, scrounging and waiting outside various stores at 5 am in ice storms for one of the precious long awaited shipment! A distinguishing feature of the console is its wireless controller, which can be used as a handheld pointing device and can detect acceleration in three dimensions. Another is the WiiConnect24, which enables it to receive messages and updates over the Internet while in standby mode.

The Wii Fit's $89.99 price tag is justified by the wide range of exercises it includes. The exercises are grouped under four different training modes: strength training, yoga, aerobics and balance games. The strength training category offers a series of extensions, lifts (arm and leg), squats, twists, lunges, planks and more. Meanwhile, the yoga category coaches users through a variety of different positions and breathing exercises, and aerobics allows players to do stepping, rhythm boxing and even hula-hoop challenges. Wii Fit's balance games include heading a soccer ball, walking a tight rope, doing ski jumps and more. When a person starts an exercise, a trainer (designed by the user) appears on screen. Throughout each exercise, the trainer provides the user with personalized feedback. All of the games and exercises utilize the balance board in some way, so the system (and your trainer) can tell exactly what you are doing and how you are doing it.

Wii Fit's hula hooping consists of, as you'd expect, gyrating your hips with a virtual hoop onscreen and then as the game progresses, characters will throw more hoops for you to catch and rotate as many times as you can until the time runs out.
